VISITING THE PARKER HOMESTEAD AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE

Located in New Richmond, Ohio, the Parker's Clermont Academy took it's namesake after the county in Southern Ohio for which it resides. Clermont County was established in December of 1800 and borders with the Ohio River, with towns such as New Richmond being rich in History. Whether it is the deep rooted past of indigenous people such as the Shawnee, Miami, Delaware, Mingo, Ottawa, Cherokee, and Wyandot; to being the birthplace of President and military hero, General Ulysses S. Grant, it's most unrecognized signifigance was it's contributions to the Underground Railroad.  An immense amount of slaves first found freedom here and at places such as the Clermont Academy.
Visits to the site prove rich in beautiful historic homes and buildings, cemeteries, wooded rolling Appalachian hills, and much more. The team periodically does field trips with student fellows and the public for specially designated events. It's beauty proves to be an enjoyable occassion full of history when walking the grounds.
